Find and upload map to google draw

  • find relevant maps.
    • Search for maps with decent resolution (e.g. Google search Tools>>Size — in dropdown select >1024×768)
    • right or ctrl-click and select ‘View Image’ (exact wording may be different in different browsers)
    • right or ctrl-click and select ‘Save Image as’ (exact wording may be different in different browsers)
  • drive.google.com
  • login with Oberlin credentials (email address as username)
  • access google Drawings
  • Insert>>Image>>upload from computer

Start annotating (fun starts)

Add curved arrows (Insert>>Line>>Curved Connector or right or ctrl-click and select line)

  • change color
  • change thickness

Add text (Insert>>text box)

  • change colors
  • change font

Add outlines (Insert>>Polylines or scribbles) You may want to zoom in to map before doing this.

Moving objects around (select object; use arrow keys or click and hold — this may move the whole object unless you are directly over the arrow)

Duplicating objects (Edit>>Duplicate Object or ctrl-click>>copy/paste –> then move the object)

Deleting objects (Select object, Edit>>Delete or select object, ctrl-click>>Delete)

Undo most recent action (Edit>>Undo or ctrl-Z)

Save and reuse in Storyline JS (File>>Download as –> Jpg or png)
